The Fish Bowl
“I have no reality for myself other than in the form I can give myself, and how? By constructing myself
Il Fu Mattia Pascal , Luigi Pirandello
Humans, at the mercy of the flux and continuous becoming of the universe, try in vain to oppose it, unconsciously or sometimes consciously constructing fixed forms in which they can recognise themselves, but which end up tying them to masks in which they can never recognise themselves, or with which they are forced to identify in order to give a meaning to their existence. The world thus becomes comparable to the inescapable ‘fishbowl’, in which people are destined to go round and round, always clashing against the same glass, against the same physical and mental limits, as they wallow in the waters of illusions and appearances.
